The Science of Breath - The Ancient Art of Pranayma
A four-part course in traditional yogic Pranayama with Ruby
Breath is with us every moment of our lives, yet most of us have never been shown how to work with it consciously. Join Ruby for a warm, practical introduction to pranayama: the ancient yogic practice of breathing with awareness and intention.
One of Ruby’s favourite things to teach, pranayama is a rich and time-honoured tradition, with tools that can support nervous system regulation, stress reduction, emotional steadiness and the cultivation of prana, our vital life force.
Across four spacious, 1 hour sessions, you’ll explore the history and philosophy of pranayama, learn about the science of breath, and be guided through four traditional techniques, with plenty of time to practise and notice how they feel for you.
This is a gentle, grounded approach to breathwork. There’s no intense, activating breathing or rapid mouth-breathing practice, just thoughtful techniques, shared with care, and space to learn at your own pace.
Ruby will also provide printed resources and recommended reading, so you can keep exploring beyond the course.
You’ll explore:
-
A history and overview of pranayama
-
The science of breath
-
Four traditional pranayama techniques
-
Plenty of guided practice
